Mount Wellington

natural

Kunanyi, also known as Mount Wellington, rises as the most dominant feature of the Hobart skyline. This mountain is a cultural landscape for the Palawa people, who have held a spiritual connection to its slopes for at least thirty-five thousand years. For the Muwinina people of the Hobart area, the mountain acted as a sacred threshold between earth and sky, and its foothills were managed through traditional fire-stick farming to encourage the growth of food and medicine.
