The Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club sits along the beachfront, recognized by its proximity to the landscaped parklands that stretch north toward Hillarys Boat Harbour. Founded in nineteen fifty-eight, the club began when a group of members split from the North Beach Surf Life Saving Club. In those early years, the organization lacked a permanent home. The first management committee met at a local establishment called the Dome, while rescue equipment was stored in a member's horse stable.
