Ambras Castle Innsbruck

historic

Ambras Castle sits on a high, wooded rocky outcrop overlooking the Inn Valley. The complex is distinguished by the stark difference between the medieval-style Upper Castle, which occupies the highest point of the hill, and the long, lower structures built specifically to house collections. Its most striking feature is the Spanish Hall, a massive, free-standing Renaissance hall that measures forty-three meters in length, set apart from the residential quarters.
