Basiliskenhaus

The Basiliskenhaus, located at Schönlaterngasse number seven, is distinguished by a fresco on its facade depicting a mythical, hybrid creature. This building stands as one of the oldest structures in the city, with cellar walls dating to the thirteenth century. It earned its name from a legend claiming a basilisk—a monster born from a rooster egg hatched by a toad—was discovered in the house well on June twenty-sixth, twelve hundred and twelve.
