You are approaching a structure composed of nine massive, stainless steel-clad spheres connected by steel tubes. Standing one hundred and two meters tall, this metallic giant resembles an elementary iron crystal magnified one hundred and sixty-five billion times. It was conceived by engineer André Waterkeyn and architects André and Jean Polak for the nineteen fifty-eight Brussels World’s Fair.
