The Edifício Petrônio stands out on the Rua Ronald de Carvalho for its pronounced art déco style and a curved central column that gives the entrance the appearance of a ship. Completed in December nineteen thirty-six, the structure was designed by engineer Petrônio Almeida Magalhães, whose name remains inscribed in the black Belgian marble that lines the interior hall.
