Moraine Lake

natural

Moraine Lake is defined by the ten rugged mountain summits of the Valley of the Ten Peaks that tower over its basin. The lake itself is known for a distinctive azure-blue color caused by sunlight refracting off rock flour, which is fine sediment deposited by glacial meltwater. It sits at an elevation of one thousand eight hundred eighty-four meters within Banff National Park.
