Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal

religious

Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal is defined by a colossal copper dome that rises high above the northern slope of the mountain. As the largest church in Canada, it stands as a prominent landmark visible from across the city, its granite exterior designed in the Italian Renaissance style. The site originated in nineteen oh four when a humble doorkeeper named Brother André Bessette built a modest chapel on this hillside to honor his patron saint, Saint Joseph.
