Cerro Artillería is marked by the presence of the Paseo 21 de Mayo, a panoramic viewpoint that hangs over the edge of the hill with a view of the harbor below. Its name traces back to eighteen eighty-seven, when the Chilean Navy established an artillery barracks at its summit, replacing an earlier defensive site known as the Castle of San Antonio.
