Kaštilac

historic

Kaštilac is a stone fortress built on a small islet about forty meters from the shore, connected to the mainland by a bridge. This maritime fortification, with its square floor plan and high defensive walls, stands as the only true castle among the seven historical settlements along the Kaštela coast. Benedictine nuns from Split commissioned the structure between fifteen twenty-nine and fifteen forty-five to protect their land and workers from Ottoman raids.
