Edificio Solimar

The Edificio Solimar stands out at the corner of Calle Soledad and Calle San Lázaro, identified by its undulating facade of curved balconies that ripple along the building’s exterior. Designed by architect Manuel Copado and completed in nineteen forty-four, the seven-story structure represents an early example of the Modern movement in Havana. The wavy balconies, which serve as passageways to the apartment entrances, create a sharp visual contrast against the more conventional, rectilinear buildings lining the rest of the street.
