The Step Pyramid of Djoser rises from the Saqqara plateau in six distinct, massive tiers. This stone structure, reaching over sixty meters into the desert sky, represents the earliest large-scale cut stone construction in Egyptian history. Built during the Third Dynasty, around twenty-six hundred BC, it served as the royal tomb for the pharaoh Djoser.
