Momi Battery Historical Park is defined by two massive, seven-meter-long naval guns that still sit in their original concrete emplacements on a grassy hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Built during the Second World War, this site was one of six coastal artillery batteries constructed across Fiji to guard against the threat of a Japanese invasion. Its location was strategically chosen to command the Navula Passage, one of the few deep-water breaks in the reef where enemy ships could enter to threaten the airfield at Nadi and the port at Lautoka.
