Plan d'Aou sits on a plateau in the northern hills of Marseille, marked by a sweeping view of the Estaque bay and the industrial harbor below. The name comes from the Provençal for a plain or square located on high ground, a position that once held the estate of the Marquis de Foresta and his Château des Tours.
