The Beatpol occupies the upper floor of a building that began its life in eighteen ninety-six as the Gasthof Briesnitz. Designed by Gustav Pietzsch and built by Heinrich Kühne for A. Birnbaum, the structure originally featured a four-hundred-seat ballroom. Over the following century, the space transitioned through various uses, serving as a cinema called the Film-Eck Briesnitz between nineteen thirty-three and nineteen seventy-two, and later housing municipal offices during the final decades of the German Democratic Republic.
