The Hauz Khas Complex is defined by an L-shaped structure of ruins that stretches along the southern and eastern banks of a large, sunken water reservoir. In the middle of the fourteenth century, Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq restored the silted-up tank and commissioned the surrounding buildings, including the mosque and the madrasa that still stand above the water today.
