Rajgruha is a three-story building in the Hindu Colony of Dadar that served as the residence of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar between nineteen thirty-three and the nineteen fifties. Named after the ancient Buddhist kingdom of Rajgir, the house was built under Ambedkar’s own supervision starting in nineteen thirty-one. The structure was designed primarily to accommodate his vast collection of books, which grew to include over fifty thousand volumes and became one of the largest personal libraries in the world at the time of his death in nineteen fifty-six.
