Chand Baori is a deep, four-sided stepwell in the village of Abhaneri that features three sides lined with a precise, symmetrical grid of three thousand five hundred narrow steps. These stairs descend thirteen stories—about one hundred feet—into the earth to reach a pool of water at the bottom, creating an inverted pyramid shape that narrows as it drops.
