Jaigarh Fort

museum

Jaigarh Fort is defined by its massive, crimson-hued sandstone walls that stretch over three kilometers along the rugged ridge of the Aravalli hills, four hundred meters above the city of Amer. Commissioned by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh the Second in seventeen twenty-six, this fortress was designed as a high-altitude military bastion to guard the royal treasury and the neighboring Amer Fort. Its strategic location on the Hill of Eagles provided an impregnable vantage point for the rulers of the Kachwaha dynasty.
