Kaylana Lake is distinguished by the expanse of still water that sits in sharp contrast to the surrounding jagged, igneous rock formations. Built in eighteen seventy-two by Pratap Singh, the lake serves as a primary source of drinking water for Jodhpur. Its presence replaced what was once a landscape of palaces and gardens belonging to earlier rulers, Bhim Singh and Takhat Singh, which were dismantled to clear space for this massive reservoir.
