The Maharana Pratap Memorial in Chawand stands south of the historic hill fort, identifiable by the prominent statues of the ruler and his key associates, including Rana Punja, Hakim Khan Sur, Jhala Maan, and Bhamashah. This site marks the final chapter of a protracted struggle for independence in Mewar. After the Battle of Haldighati in fifteen seventy-six, Maharana Pratap retreated into the Aravalli hills, eventually capturing this region from the Rathores to establish his third and last capital in fifteen eighty-five.
