Il Treno della Barca is a long, low building stretching over five hundred meters along the edge of Bologna. Its defining visual characteristic is a continuous, curving row of reinforced concrete columns and wide arches that shelter a public walkway. Designed by architect Giuseppe Vaccaro and completed in the early nineteen sixties, the structure was created as the backbone of a new residential district meant for families of workers.
