Eremo di Tizzano

religious

The Eremo di Tizzano sits on a hill overlooking the Reno valley, visible from across the Bologna plain due to its grand facade facing east. Camaldolese monks began constructing this monastic complex in sixteen sixty-five on land owned by the Guastavillani family, finishing the work in seventeen forty-one. The site includes a baroque church dedicated to Saint Benedict, a bell tower from seventeen twenty-four that once served as the prior's residence, and remnants of cells where the hermits lived.
