Rocca dei Bentivoglio e Museo

cultural

The Rocca dei Bentivoglio sits on a hill overlooking Bazzano, its structure defined by a tall guard tower and clock tower that dominate the local horizon. Originally a medieval fortification, the building evolved in the late fifteenth century when Giovanni II Bentivoglio, then ruler of Bologna, renovated it into a countryside residence. You can still see vertical slots above the entrance today, which once held the chains for the castle’s drawbridge.
