Castello Baradello

historic

Castello Baradello is defined by its massive, square stone tower that rises twenty-seven and a half meters above the hill overlooking Como. Perched atop a strategic height, the structure serves as a point of reference for the first basin of Lake Como. Emperor Frederick Barbarossa ordered the fortress rebuilt in eleven fifty-eight, utilizing the foundations of a sixth-century Byzantine stronghold to create an imperial watchtower.
