Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi

museum

The Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi is unmistakable for the bronze stag that stands atop the central dome, a mark of its original purpose as a royal hunting lodge for the House of Savoy. Designed by the architect Filippo Juvarra and begun in seventeen twenty-nine, the building unfolds in a saltire plan, with four wings projecting diagonally from a vast, oval-shaped central hall. It sits ten kilometers southwest of Turin, anchored by a long, straight approach road that aligns directly with the city.
