Reggia di Venaria

historic

The Reggia di Venaria is defined by its massive, light-filled Galleria Grande, a seventy-two-meter-long hall designed by Filippo Juvarra that serves as a seamless bridge between the palace interiors and the gardens outside. Commissioned in sixteen fifty-nine by Duke Carlo Emanuele the Second, the complex began as a hunting residence—the name itself comes from the Latin venatio regia, or royal hunt—before expanding into one of the largest Baroque palace complexes in Europe.
