Church of Saint Zeno

religious

The Basilica of Saint Zeno is recognizable by its striped exterior of alternating tufa stone and brick, a warm, multi-colored façade that separates it from the surrounding city. This Romanesque structure, completed in thirteen ninety-eight, stands on a site that has hosted religious buildings since at least the fourth century. It was built to hold the tomb of Saint Zeno, an early bishop who is now the patron saint of Verona.
