Mt. Moiwa

natural

Mount Moiwa rises five hundred thirty-one meters above the Sapporo city center, distinguished by the ropeway and mini cable car that ascend its forested slopes. Known to the indigenous Ainu people as Inkarushibe, the name translates to the place we always climb to look out from. This peak has served as a strategic vantage point for generations, long before the modern observation deck brought visitors to its summit to survey the cityscape and the distant Ishikari Bay.
