Odaiba Marine Park

park garden

Odaiba Marine Park is a waterfront recreation area defined by an artificial sandy beach and wide, unobstructed views of the Tokyo Bay skyline and the Rainbow Bridge. Its name originates from the mid-nineteenth century, when the Tokugawa shogunate constructed a series of man-made battery islands here to defend the city of Edo from foreign naval threats. These fortifications were called daiba, and the honorific o was eventually added, giving the area its present name.
