The Bomas of Kenya is recognized by its collection of traditional homesteads, or bomas, built to reflect the architecture and social organization of various Kenyan ethnic groups. Established by the government in nineteen seventy-one, the center functions as a living museum where replicas of homes constructed from mud, wood, and thatch represent the diverse heritage of the country.
