The Pak Ou Caves sit within a limestone cliff at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Ou rivers. The site consists of two distinct caverns, Tham Ting and Tham Theung, which are recognizable by the thousands of Buddha statues resting on their stone shelves and ledges. These icons vary in size and material, ranging from small wooden figures to larger statues made of bronze and ceramic, placed here by pilgrims and locals over hundreds of years.
