A bronze statue of King Anouvong stands prominently along the Mekong River, capturing the figure of a monarch with his right arm outstretched toward the opposite shore. This monument, erected in twenty-ten to mark the four hundred fiftieth anniversary of Vientiane, honors the last ruler of the Kingdom of Vientiane who reigned from eighteen oh five to eighteen twenty-eight.
