Suffolk House is a whitewashed, two-story Georgian mansion that stands out for its symmetrical, classical architecture, an anomaly in this landscape. It is recognized as Malaysia's only surviving example of an Anglo-Indian garden house. The building sits on land once owned by Captain Francis Light, the founder of the British settlement on Penang, who maintained a modest timber home here on his pepper plantation until his death in seventeen ninety-four.
