Zona Arqueológica de El Meco

The Zona Arqueológica de El Meco is defined by the massive, five-level pyramid known as El Castillo. Standing twelve and a half meters tall, it is the tallest structure of its kind on this stretch of the Caribbean coast. The pyramid is unique for its orientation; its front faces directly toward the sea, aligning with the southern tip of Isla Mujeres to serve as a beacon and a ceremonial gateway for maritime pilgrims.
