Cenote Calavera is defined by three circular openings in its limestone roof that, when viewed from above, resemble a human skull. The large central hole serves as the primary entrance for swimmers, while two smaller surrounding apertures represent the eyes. This semi-open formation, also known locally as the Temple of Doom, is a window into the vast Sac Actun cave system, which stretches for hundreds of kilometers beneath the Yucatán Peninsula.
