Gran Cenote is a large, semi-open limestone sinkhole that features a winding series of caverns and turquoise pools connected by wooden walkways. Located just a few kilometers outside of downtown Tulum, it is part of an extensive underground river system that stretches across the Yucatan Peninsula. The site is characterized by the contrast between its open-air swimming areas and the darker, stalactite-filled cave sections where sunlight filters through the ceiling, illuminating the clear freshwater below.
