The Lokanat Building, originally known as the Sofaer & Co. Building, occupies a full block at the corner of Merchant Road and Pansodan Street. You can identify this four-story structure by its cream-yellow Neo-Renaissance facade and the distinctive dome that rises above the intersection. Completed in nineteen oh six, the building was designed by Isaac Sofaer, a Baghdadi Jewish trader and architect, in collaboration with Thomas Swales.
