Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland

Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland is a landscape of vivid color, where mineral-laden water paints the earth in shades of neon yellow, orange, and green. This geothermal field, situated at the southern edge of the Okataina Volcanic Centre, features craters, steaming fumaroles, and the expansive Champagne Pool. The Ngāti Whaoa tribe, who held these lands for generations, named the area Waiotapu, which translates to sacred waters.
