The Katherine Mansfield House and Garden is a square, two-story weatherboard building on Tinakori Road with a distinct red corrugated iron roof. Built in eighteen eighty-eight by the writer’s father, Harold Beauchamp, the house was constructed to meet a lease requirement for a substantial home valued at no less than four hundred pounds. Inside, the rooms reflect the life of a rising middle-class family in colonial Wellington.
