Troldhaugen

museum

Troldhaugen stands above Nordås Lake as the former home of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg and his wife, Nina Grieg. Completed in eighteen eighty-five and designed by Grieg’s cousin, the architect Schak Bull, the residence is recognized by its panoramic tower and wide veranda. The name itself, meaning troll hill, came from local children who referred to the nearby valley as the Valley of Trolls.
