Holy Trinity Church is defined by its deep red brick exterior, a signature that earned it the local nickname the Red Church. Designed by the British architect Sir George Gilbert Scott and completed in eighteen sixty-nine, the building served for decades as the primary Anglican cathedral for Shanghai’s expatriate community.
