Shuhe Ancient Town

landmark

Shuhe Ancient Town is identifiable by its network of clear streams, which are diverted from the nearby Jiuding Dragon Pool to run directly alongside its stone-paved streets. Known in the Naxi language as a village at the foot of a peak, this settlement served as a primary stop on the ancient Tea Horse Road. Caravans traveling the long route between Yunnan and Tibet once paused here to exchange goods, establishing the town as a center for trade and local craftsmanship.
