Kilometer eighty-two, also known as the village of Piscacucho, sits at an elevation of two thousand seven hundred and nine meters in the Sacred Valley. You will recognize this location by the controlled checkpoints where permits and passports are verified before hikers enter the trail. It serves as the official trailhead for the classic four-day Inca Trail, a journey that spans forty-two kilometers of mountain terrain toward Machu Picchu.
