Iglica

monument

The Iglica is a slender steel spire rising ninety meters into the air, anchored by three massive legs that form a tripod at its base. Erected in nineteen forty-eight, this needle-like monument stands as a centerpiece of the grounds surrounding the Centennial Hall. Its construction was part of the Exhibition of Regained Territories, intended to showcase the city's recovery from the destruction of the second world war. The three legs of the base were designed to represent the unity of workers, peasants, and the working intelligentsia in the national effort to rebuild.
