The Warsaw Uprising Museum occupies the red-brick building of a former tram power station, erected between nineteen oh four and nineteen oh eight. This industrial site now preserves the history of the sixty-three days of struggle that began at seventeen hundred hours on August first, nineteen forty-four. Known as W-hour, the uprising was a massive operation by Polish resistance fighters to liberate their capital from Nazi German occupation before the arrival of Soviet forces.
