The concrete skeleton of the Torpedownia stands three hundred meters out in the Baltic Sea, a jagged silhouette rising directly from the waves. Built by the German military during the second world war, this facility served as a research center for the Luftwaffe, known then as Torpedowaffenplatz Hexengrund. German engineers moved their operations here from Eckernförde to escape the reach of British bombers, finding the quiet waters of the Bay of Puck an ideal testing ground for new torpedo designs.
