Al Kahraba Street

Al Kahraba Street is recognizable by its historic name, which translates literally to Electricity Street. In the mid-nineteen fifties, this thoroughfare became the first in Doha to be illuminated by streetlights and neon signs, following the construction of the city’s inaugural power station nearby. The arrival of electric light transformed the area into a primary commercial hub, attracting residents to shops like the Modern Home and local staples such as the Saida Bakery.
