The Barzan Towers are identifiable by their two rectangular, fourteen-meter-tall structures featuring buttressed corners and thick walls made of coral stone, limestone, and mud mortar. Built in the village of Umm Salal Mohammed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Jassim Al-Thani, the western tower was constructed between nineteen ten and nineteen sixteen as part of a defensive wall protecting the local gardens and precious rainwater collection points.
