The Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum is an open-air collection of more than three hundred historic buildings, including peasant homes, churches, and windmills, that are spread across a wide, green expanse along the shores of Lake Herastrau. Each of these structures was relocated from villages across Romania, brought to Bucharest to preserve the traditional architecture and rural lifestyles of the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries.
